কিছু সাধারণ নিয়মাবলী:

২৪ ঘণ্টা বা তারচেয়ে বেশি সময়ের (দিন, সপ্তাহ, মাস, বছর, সাল ইত্যাদি) ক্ষেত্রে in বসে।

• in 1980 (১৯৮০ সালে)
• in February (ফেব্রুয়ারিতে)
• in a day (একদিনে)
• in a week (এক সপ্তাহে)
• in a month (এক মাসে)
• in a year (এক বছরে)

২৪ ঘণ্টার চেয়ে ছোট সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে সকাল, বিকাল, সন্ধ্যা ও দিনেরবেলা বোঝালে in (in the) এবং অন্যান্য ক্ষেত্রে at বসে।

• in the morning (সকালে)
• in the afternoon (বিকালে)
• in the evening (সন্ধ্যায়)
• in the daytime (দিনে / দিনেরবেলা)
• at dawn (ভোরে)
• at midday (মধ্যাহ্নে)
• at noon (দুপুরে)
• at dusk/twilight (গোধূলিতে)
• at night (রাতে)
• at midnight (মধ্যরাতে)
• late at night (শেষরাতে / গভীর রাতে)

Every, each, this, next, last, today, tomorrow, yesterday – এদের পরে সময় এলে কোন Preposition (in, at, on) বসে না।

• I walk every morning.
• I bought this mobile last year.
• I’m going to invite him today.

দিবস, তারিখ, সাপ্তাহিক বার বোঝালে on বসে।

• Come on Sunday.
• I got it on my birthday.
• We celebrate Mother Language Day on 21st February
• On December 16, 1971, Bangladesh got victory.

বড় স্থান/জায়গার ক্ষেত্রে in ও ছোট স্থান/জায়গার ক্ষেত্রে at বসে।

• I live at Banasree in Dhaka.

সময়ের সমষ্টি বোঝলে for, অতীতকাল হতে নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝালে since এবং বর্তমান বা ভবিষ্যত কাল হতে সময় বোঝালে from বসে।

• It’s been raining for two hours
• It’s been raining since morning.
• It’ll have been raining from today / tomorrow.

যে কাজটা হয়ে গেছে তার জন্য for এবং যে কাজটা হবে তার জন্য to বসে।

• Mother has scolded me for using mobile.
• Mother has given me money to buy a new mobile.

হাসপাতাল, কারাগার, পুলিশ স্টেশন এরকম জায়গা পরিদর্শনে বা কোন কাজে গেলে at এবং বাধ্য হয়ে থাকতে হলে in বসে।

• I’m at the hospital. (ডাক্তার দেখাতে বা রোগী দেখতে যাওয়া)
• I’m in the hospital. (রোগী হিসেবে ভর্তি আছি)
• I’m at the prison. (কোন কারণে এসেছি)
• I’m in the prison. (বন্দি হিসেবে আছি)

Home, abroad, here, there, near-এর আগে to বসে না।

• I go home.
• I want to go abroad.
• While going there, I saw an incident.
• Come here.
• Go near the box.

Preposition অনুযায়ী কিছু ব্যবহার:

At এর ব্যবহার:

• ছোট স্থান/শহর/জায়গার পূর্বে at বসে।
  • He lives at Lalbag.
• নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে at বসে।
  • I go to school at 9 am.
• দূরত্ব বোঝাতে at বসে।
  • Khulna is at 100 kilometers from here.
• দাম বোঝাতে at বসে।
  • Potato sells at 10 Tk. Per KG.
• দায়িত্ব বোঝাতে at বসে।
  • You must do this at your won risk.
• বয়স বোঝাতে at বসে।
  • He passed SSC at 16.
• কোন ভাষা বোঝালে তার আগে at বসে।
  • He is good at English.

In এর ব্যবহার:

• বড় স্থানের পূর্বে in বসে।
  • I live in Bangladesh.
• কোন বিষয় বোঝালে তার আগে in বসে।
  • He studies in Physics.
• সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে বছর/মাসের পূর্বে in বসে।
  • He has born in 1980.
• পেশার পূর্বে in বসে।
  • She works in medicine.
• অবস্থা বোঝাতে in বসে।
  • She is in happy mode.
• ক্ষেত্র বোঝাতে in বসে।
  • I have nothing to say in this regard.

On এর ব্যবহার:

• কোন কিছুর ওপর সংলগ্ন বোঝাতে on বসে।
  • Keep the mobile on the table.
• বার/দিন/তারিখের পূর্বে on বসে।
  • I went there on Sunday.
• নদীর তীর বোঝাতে on বসে।
  • Khulna is on the rupsha.
• নির্ভরতা বোঝাতে on বসে।
  • We live on rice.
• ফ্লোরে বোঝাতে on বসে।
  • The Bank is on the 5th floor.
• সম্বন্ধ বোঝাতে on বসে।
  • He wrote an eassy on Liberation.

Above এর ব্যবহার:

• সংযুক্ত না হয়ে উপরে বোঝাতে above বসে।
  • The fan is moving above my head.
• মানের উপরে বোঝাতে  above বসে।
  • I got above 90% marks in history.

Over এর ব্যবহার:

• কোন কিছু স্পর্শ না করে উপরে বোঝাতে over বসে।
  • The plane is over the field.
• মাধ্যম বোঝাতে over বসে।
  • He talked over the telephone.
• বিপরীত পাশ বোঝাতে over বসে।
  • They live over the road.
• অধিক বোঝাতে over বসে।
  • Sumu was India for over a month.
• সমগ্র/সারা অর্থ বোঝাতে over বসে।
  • They have traveled over the world.

To এর ব্যবহার:

• কোন স্থানে আসা এবং যাওয়া বোঝালে ঐ স্থানের আগে to বসে।
  • He goes to market.
• ব্যক্তির কাছে বোঝালে তার আগে to বসে।
  • Razu came to me.
• অনুসারে বোঝাতে to বসে।
  • I work according to rule.
• সীমানার বাহিরে বোঝাতে to বসে।
  • India is to the east of our country.

Of এর ব্যবাহর:

• অধিকার/মালিকানা বোঝাতে of বসে।
  • This is the car of Mr. Azad.
• উপকরণ বোঝাতে of বসে।
  • The briefcase is made of leather.
• কারণ বোঝাতে of বসে।
  • The man died of cancer.
• সম্পর্কে বোঝাতে of বসে।
  • I know everything of it.

For এর ব্যবহার:

• জন্য বোঝাতে for বসে।
  • I would like to do something for you.
• সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে ধরে/যাবৎ বোঝাতে for বসে।
  • He has been working for four hours.
• কারণ বোঝাতে for বসে।
  • I will go to India for a tour.
• মূল্য/দাম বোঝাতে for বসে।
  • I have bought a mobile for 5000 Taka.
• সাহায্য অর্থে বোঝাতে for বসে।
  • Please do this favor for me.

Since এর ব্যবহার:

• অতীতকাল হতে নির্দিষ্ট সময় বোঝাতে since বসে।
  • It has been raining since morning.

From এর ব্যবহার:

• কারো নিকট হতে/থেকে বোঝালে from বসে।
  • I got it from you.
• কোন স্থান হতে/থেকে বোঝালে from বসে।
  • He bought sweets from market.
• সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে বর্তমান এবং ভবিষ্যত কালে “হতে” বোঝাতে from বসে।

Into এর ব্যবহার:

• সংঘর্ষে বোঝাতে into বসে।
  • The car crashed into a parked microbus.
• সংখ্যায় ভাগ হওয়া বোঝাতে into বসে।
  • They were divided into five groups.

By এর ব্যবহার:

• পাশে বোঝাতে by বসে।
  • She sat by me.
• পথ অর্থে বোঝাতে by  বসে।
  • They will go there by road.
• কোন উপায় বা পদ্ধতি বোঝাতে তার আগে by বসে।
  • He achieved success by hard labour.
• পরিমাপ বোঝাতে by বসে।
  • This table is 2 feet by 3 feet.
• পর্যায়ক্রম বা হার বোঝাতে by বসে।
  • He is improving day by day.

Towards এর ব্যবহার:

• দিকে বা বরাবর বোঝাতে towards বসে।
  • I am going towards the mosque.

Before এর ব্যবহার:

• পূর্বে বোঝাতে before বসে।
  • Rina came before lunch.
• সম্মুখে বোঝাতে before বসে।
  • Rina stood before me.

After এর ব্যবহার:

• পরে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে after বসে।
  • I will play after studying.
• চলমান অবস্থায় বোঝাতে after বসে।
  • Police run after the criminal.

Below এর ব্যবহার:

• নিচে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে below বসে।
  • We live below the sky.

Under এর ব্যবহার:

• নিচে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে under বসে।
  • Let’s sit under the tree.
• বিবেচনাধীন অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে under বসে।
  • This case is under the court.
• অধীনে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে under বসে।
  • He serves under me.

Down এর ব্যবহার:

• উপর থেকে নিচে বোঝাতে down বসে।
  • He fell down from a building.

Beside এর ব্যবহার:

• পাশে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে beside বসে।
  • She sat beside me.

Behind এর ব্যবহার:

• পিছনে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে behind বসে।
  • Please stay behind me.

Beyond এর ব্যবহার:

• সাধ্যের বাহিরে বোঝাতে beyond বসে।
  • The price of the dress is beyond my budget.

Across এর ব্যবহার:

• এক প্রান্ত থেকে অন্য প্রান্ত বোঝাতে across বসে।
  • Go across the road.

Along এর ব্যবহার:

• বরাবর অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে along বসে।
  • Go along the bed.

Through এর ব্যবহার:

• কোন কিছুর মাধ্যমে বা মধ্য দিয়ে বোঝাতে through বসে।
  • They went to our village through the forest.

Against এর ব্যবহার:

• বিরুদ্ধে বোঝাতে against বসে।
  • We fought against Pakistan in the liberation war.
• বিপরীতে অর্থ বোঝাতে against বসে।
  • Rina sat against the wall.

About এর ব্যবহার:

• সম্বন্ধে অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে about বসে।
  • Rafiq told me about the game.
• প্রায় অর্থ প্রকাশ করতে about বসে।
  • The movie is about to end.

Between এর ব্যবহার:

• দুইয়ের মধ্যে বোঝাতে বা তুলনা করতে between বসে।
  • Divide the apple between two boys.

Among এর ব্যবহার:

• দুইয়ের অধিকের মধ্যে বোঝাতে বা তুলনা করতে among বসে।
  • Divide the apple among three boys.

With এর ব্যবহার:

• সাথে বোঝাতে with বসে।
  • He came with me.
• দ্বারা/দিয়ে বোঝাতে with বসে।
  • I write with this pen.

Without এর ব্যবহার:

• ছাড়া/ব্যতিত বোঝাতে without বসে।
  • Fish cannot live without water.

Within এর ব্যবহার:

• নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের মধ্যে বোঝাতে within বসে।
  • I will back within 20 minutes.
