English Practice: Day 05 — Verb-এর রূপ ও বেসিক নিয়ম
Verb-এর ৫টি রূপ
ইংরেজিতে প্রতিটি Verb-এর ৫টি রূপ আছে। এই রূপগুলোকে v1, v2, v3, v4, v5 বলা হয়।
v1 — মূল রূপ go, eat, write, come, play
v2 — অতীত রূপ went, ate, wrote, came, played
v3 — সম্পন্ন রূপ gone, eaten, written, come, played
v4 — চলমান রূপ (সবসময় শেষে -ing যোগ হয়) going, eating, writing, coming, playing
v5 — he / she / it-এর জন্য (সবসময় শেষে -s বা -es যোগ হয়) goes, eats, writes, comes, plays
Subject চেনার উপায়
বাক্যে যে কাজটা করে, সে হলো Subject।
Singular Subject — একজন বা একটি বোঝালে। He, She, It, I, the cat, my friend — এগুলো Singular Subject।
Plural Subject — একের বেশি বোঝালে। Noun-এর শেষে s বা es থাকলে সেটা Plural Subject। যেমন: friends, teachers, cats।
তবে কিছু শব্দের শেষে s থাকলেও সেগুলো Singular Subject হিসেবে গণ্য হয়। যেমন: News, Physics, Politics, Maths।
- The news is good. ✓ (is বসে, are নয়)
I এবং You দেখতে Singular হলেও এদের সাথে Verb-এর মূল রূপ (v1) বসে।
- I go. / You read.
Singular ও Plural Verb চেনার উপায়
Singular Verb — শেষে s বা es থাকে। goes, does, comes, talks, has
Plural Verb — শেষে s বা es থাকে না। go, do, come, talk, have
মূল নিয়ম: Singular Subject-এর সাথে Singular Verb এবং Plural Subject-এর সাথে Plural Verb বসে।
- The cat sleeps on the sofa. (cat → Singular, sleeps → Singular Verb)
- The children play football. (children → Plural, play → Plural Verb)
Be Verb
Be Verb: am, is, are, was, were, be, been, being
Be Verb-এর পরে আরেকটি Verb বসলে সেটা সবসময় v3 অথবা v4 হবে।
- She is cooking. (is + v4)
- They are playing. (are + v4)
- The letter was sent. (was + v3)
- He was given a prize. (was + v3)
Do Verb
Do Verb: do, does, did, done, doing
Do Verb-এর পরে আরেকটি Verb বসলে সেটা সবসময় v1 হবে।
- Do you like tea? (do + v1)
- She does not know the answer. (does + v1)
- Did he finish the work? (did + v1)
Have Verb
Have Verb: have, has, had, having
Have Verb-এর পরে আরেকটি Verb বসলে সেটা সবসময় v3 হবে।
- I have finished the work. (have + v3)
- She has gone home. (has + v3)
- He had left before I arrived. (had + v3)
Modal Verb
Modal Verb: can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, must
Modal Verb-এর পরে আরেকটি Verb বসলে সেটা সবসময় v1 হবে।
- I can swim. (can + v1)
- She will come tomorrow. (will + v1)
- You should go now. (should + v1)
- He must finish the work. (must + v1)
একনজরে
Be Verb (am, is, are, was, were…) → এরপর v3 অথবা v4
Do Verb (do, does, did…) → এরপর v1
Have Verb (have, has, had…) → এরপর v3
Modal Verb (can, could, will, would, should…) → এরপর v1
